The Supreme Court Implementation Programme

In October 2009, the UK Supreme Court opened its doors for business marking an historic constitutional moment for the United Kingdom. It represented the successful culmination of the Ministry of Justice Supreme Court Implementation Programme to ensure the highest Court in the land was visibly separate from the Houses of Parliament and accessible to those it serves. The programme was led by Concerto Consulting.

The Supreme Court Implementation Programme was delivered on time, within budget and to the highest quality.

The programme created a fitting home for the Supreme Court in the heart of Westminster. The Court is now more visible and accessible than it was as a Committee of the House of Lords. The renovation attracted much praise from the Heritage, architectural and legal world as a modern working space that reflects the fine traditions of the Law Lords.

Tenants making offers that landlords cannot refuse

This year, Concerto have sponsored the annual TOCS survey, produced by Actium, which has shown that occupiers are paying too much for their office space – by up to £8.1bn pa. Quoted in an article in the Financial Times recently. Matthew Symes said “ Tenants are stuck on a rent spike (of upward only rents). Rather than struggling, renegotiate with landlords who are going to be willing to talk given their own difficulties. The key is to use this recession to build in appropriate levels of flexibility into one’s property portfolio. Occupiers need a core of long term property with smaller element of the portfolio held on a flexible / short term basis”.
